ATTENTION ARTS ENTHUSIASTS!
Dear Dance Enthusiast,
As a part of the City's Park and Recreation Civic Arts Dance program, we are excited to begin our 70th year with more participation
, audiences and dancers than ever before. San Diego Civic Dance Association is proud to support Civic Dance Arts, and provide expanded
programs and performance opportunities for all of our dancers.
While dance class tuition covers the cost of classes, San Diego Civic Dance Association works to provide our program with both the
financial and volunteer time necessary to make all of the other events possible. Each year, our volunteers donate over 20,000 hours
of their time to this program each year, providing everything needed for our Annual Recitals and more.
We are excited to be a part of the every growing national dance scene, and look forward to providing these opportunities
to our dancers for years to come. Donations, grants, ticket sales to Collage and Recitals, in combination with the donation volunteer
hours have made our program stronger and more vibrant than ever.
As one of the Nation's most unique public dance programs, San Diego Civic Dance Arts offers over 200 classes to over 2600 students,
ranging in age from 3 to Senior Citizen. Classes begin at age 3 and many people keep dancing with our program into their senior years.
Civic Dance Arts includes the opportunity for the more advanced dancers to audition for one of our four Companies, ranging in age from 8
to Senior Citizen. Education and entertainment are provided to schools and community groups in Balboa Park, and all over the county,
with the goal of introducing the love of dance and appreciation of the arts to San Diegan's for years to come.
San Diego Civic Dance Arts started the 2011-12 year off with rave reviews for Collage, had a wonderful recitals season that included
13 shows over 3 weekends, brought in guest choreographers from New York, participated in the nationwide Free Night Out of Theater,
Dance Fair, December Nights was enjoyed by all, and we were able to bring in internationally known choreographer Mia Michaels
for an inspirational and amazing master class. In addition, scholarships and financial aid were awarded to over 35 dancers
including the Bonnie Ward College scholarship for graduating seniors. All of this was made possible by your generosity.
We encourage you to be part of the future of San Diego Civic Dance Arts & Association and its diverse range of programs
by becoming a donor. Your donations help support the production costs of our Annual Recitals, our educational programs,
financial aid, scholarships, specialty workshops, teacher development, and our advanced companies throughout San Diego.
Your contribution ensures that volunteers and staff at San Diego Civic Dance receive the critical financial support needed
to continue this important service to our community.
As we begin our 70th year of dance in San Diego, we want to thank everyone who has contributed for helping make us
