Dancers enrolled in any SDCDA dance class are eligible to audition for our Spring Recital Production Finale! This original piece is performed at every Recital Performance and offers a unique opportunity for performers to enhance their dance skills. Information about last year's recital finale audition can be found here or you can speak to your dance teacher.
Costume Ordering for June 2014 Recitals:
Costumes for recitals average anywhere from $55 - $70 each and are purchased from companies that professionally make them. These companies are also providing costumes for other dance studios throughout the United States who have their recitals about the same time of year as us. It is of utmost importance that our costume orders are placed early enough to get all of the costumes back in time for recitals. Depending on the costume style, quantity and sizes ordered, some costumes come in sooner than others, but last year we had costumes that were ordered in January that did not arrive until beginning of June! In an effort to avoid that again this year, costume orders will be placed at the beginning of January and before Spring Registration (January 6 - 12, 2014).
A second order will be placed following Spring registration. As these orders are smaller they usually involve different costs and so a $10 late fee will be added onto the price of the costumes for costume money received during Spring registration week only (1/6 - 1/12). Remember that costume payment must be in the form of a check or money order only (made out to the dance instructor). This is in addition to your registration fee (payable to City Treasurer).
All costume orders received after January 12, 2014 will have a $20 late fee added to the price of the costume and are only available based on the costume company's ship date and ability to deliver the costume in time.
It is important to remember that purchasing a costume does not guarantee a dancer will perform in recitals. They must attend classes regularly throughout the Spring Semester in order to be prepared to perform onstage in June. Dance, like sports, is a team activity. Regular attendance and practice help everyone in the class to shine on recital day!
We are currently at work putting the Dress rehearsal and performance schedule for 2014 recitals together. We should have all that information completed and uploaded by mid April, 2014.
